Hospital and Outpatient Shadowing

The Turin program offers 40 hours of hospital shadowing in Italy at two of the city’s major public hospitals, known for emergency, critical and community care. Turin is our newest program, so you’ll be part of our first cohort in the city.

Ospedale San Giovanni Bosco, North Turin’s emergency hub, is home to a Level II Emergency Department, the highest level in the regional network. It is known for emergency and critical care, cardiac surgery and its role as a hub in Piedmont’s heart attack network.

Fellows may also shadow at Ospedale Maria Vittoria, a historic hospital founded in 1879. It is north Turin’s main reference center for maternal and child health and runs one of the busiest emergency rooms in Piedmont.Β

Specific departments cannot be guaranteed. Participating sites may vary by session.

Lively city lifeUnderrated cityElegant & historicAlpine views

Turin (Torino to the locals) is Italy’s best-kept secret. Picture grand arcaded boulevards, baroque piazzas and the snow-capped Alps on the horizon, all in a city small enough to walk. It’s one of Italy’s great university towns, so you’ll be surrounded by students. Evenings start with aperitivo (a Turin invention), and the river Po is a perfect backdrop. Spend weekends exploring the world-famous Egyptian Museum, climbing the Mole Antonelliana or escaping to the mountains. The student districts of San Salvario and Vanchiglia keep the nightlife going, and life here costs noticeably less than in Rome or Milan. It’s stylish, relaxed and easy to fall for.
