The Director of University Partnerships & Business Development will lead the development of our U.S. university network and serve as a primary U.S.-based representative of the company. You'll build relationships with:
- Study abroad and education abroad offices
- International education and global engagement offices
- Faculty and academic departments
- Healthcare-related academic programs
- Other university stakeholders involved in international and experiential learning
You'll identify potential university partners, develop relationships with decision-makers, present program opportunities, develop customized proposals with our Italy-based team, and help turn institutional relationships into sustainable university programs in Italy.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and manage a pipeline of U.S. colleges and universities that are a strong fit for our programs
- Build relationships with study abroad directors, education abroad professionals, faculty, department chairs, and other university decision-makers
- Identify opportunities for faculty-led, customized, and group programs in Italy
- Present programs to university administrators, faculty, and academic groups
- Work with our Italy-based team to develop proposals, itineraries, and partnership opportunities
- Manage university partner relationships throughout the business-development process and transition established partnerships to program delivery
- Represent the company at relevant U.S. conferences, university events, and networking opportunities
- Develop a sustainable business-development process for continued growth in the U.S. market
What you'll bring:
- Significant professional experience working with U.S. colleges and universities, typically 10+ years
- Experience in study abroad, education abroad, international education, faculty-led programs, educational travel, university partnerships, or higher-education business development
- An established professional network within U.S. higher education
- Experience developing institutional partnerships and converting relationships into programs or other revenue-generating opportunities
- A strong understanding of how study abroad and faculty-led programs are developed, approved, and implemented within U.S. universities
- Participation in professional international-education networks or associations
- Strong presentation, communication, relationship-building, and business-development skills
- The ability to work independently, manage travel, and collaborate effectively with a team based in Italy
- Highly desirable: experience with medical schools, health sciences, nursing, public health, or other healthcare-related academic programs
Employment & Benefits
Full-time preferred; part-time or independent contractor arrangements may be considered. The role involves approximately 20–30% U.S.-based travel.
- Base salary: $65,000–$85,000 USD, depending on experience and qualifications
- Uncapped, performance-based commission on new university business, with higher rates once agreed annual targets are exceeded
- Reasonable approved business travel expenses, including university visits and relevant conferences, are covered by the company
